Yoga in Sin City

Currently, I am spending 6 days a week immersed in the world of yoga. With one day off a week, we've had a couple of chances to step away from the studio and into the lights and delights of Las Vegas. I've enjoyed the visits to the strip, but all the hustle and bustle of the city makes me crave the silent studio.

The training days are long, but amazing. Here is my daily schedule:

5am Wake-Up
6:45am Yoga Class
9am Lecture
12pm Lunch
1pm Lecture
2pm Yoga Class
4pm Lecture
8pm Dinner, Laundry, Food Prep, Sleep

I am so totally impressed with the training content and can't wait to share my new found knowledge and appreciation for all things yoga! We are sweating, breathing and working hard on our physical practice, but there is so much more! From anatomy and physiology, to history and philosophy, I am learning so much about the yoga world. We are taking one class per week in a different yoga style (Sivananda, Yin and Jivamukti so far) and they are all so great! If you haven't tried yoga yet, check it out! Have any questions on how to start? Let me know!

See you in the studio!

Las Vegas Con Xpress

How do you transport 28 Yoga Teacher Trainees from homebase to the yoga studio? Why the Las Vegas Con Xpress of course!

Ah yes, twice a day, everyday we get to scoot around town in a vehicle that was in the past used to transport convicts. There are grates on the windows and a sign on the back stating: "No warning shots fired, prisoners on board."

Now, this is Las Vegas of course, so you won't be surprised that this bus can be rented out for Stagettes, Weddings, all sorts of parties.

Gotta go...the Con Xpress is on its way!

My New Journey

For many years I have taken refuge in the yoga studio to challenge my body, to de-stress and to get a fantastic workout. While I have taught mind-body classes for many years, I have yet to enter into the world of teaching hot yoga. Until now...

On September 15th, I will begin an intensive one month Moksha Yoga Teacher Training in Las Vegas, Nevada. Moksha Yoga is a series of postures practiced in a heated room. The series works to stretch, strengthen and tone the muscles while detoxifying the body and calming the mind. Founders Ted Grand and Jessica Robertson, developed a series of postures that is free to change and evolve based on the needs of the students. And I like that!

The days are long (6:30am-7:00pm) and the curriculum is well thought out. During my training, I will be taking one class per week in a different yoga style (Sivananda, Ashtanga, Iyengar) as well as meditation and pranayama practice, teaching methodology, posture clinics, structural and functional anatomy, the philosophy and history of yoga and more.

Upon my return, I look forward to sharing my new found knowledge with those of you looking for new challenges and new ways to work towards your healthy body and healthy mind.
